Community Powered Running Group Based Out of Waterloo Region

The Running Rarebits are proud to once again be raising money through sales of a charity calendar.

Last year several men of the Running Rarebits proudly sported their running gear and showed off their beards in a 13 month calendar with proceeds going to Thyroid Canada. We were so happy to be able to donate over $1,500 from the proceeds of that calendar to thyroid cancer research and awareness. In addition the running community let us know that the calendar was an amazing resource listing almost a hundred races in the Waterloo Region and surrounding region.

Be Strong: Celebrating the Women of the Running Rarebits Inner Strength, Body Strength and Strength In Community

The women of the Running Rarebits wanted to produce a calendar. They chose to highlight their strength, both physical, but also their tenacity and inner strength. Above all the women of the Rarebits wanted to show the strength they derive from their community. These women celebrate what their bodies can achive for them as athletes, and what they can achieve together when they show support as a team. Proceeds from this year's calendar go to the St Mary's hospital cardiac centre in support of two members Adrienne (January) and Jen (December) who have pacemakers but remain amazing, strong athletes who achieve phenomenal results with their runner bodies.

A 13 month calendar in support of St Mary's General Hospital Cardiac Centre

Trish's pose, is an homage to runner Lanni Marchant, who was told she can't be proud of her athleticism while also accentuating her femininity. Read Lanni's blog post about the double standard of athleticism and femininity here. Her ears a playful tribute to her trail nickname, "Snow Leopard"

A mere year after having open heart surgery, Jen became an ultra-runner when she completed her first 50 km race. Jen is an inspiration to us all and is one of the two Rarebits in this calendar who benefit from the St Mary's General Hospital Foundation cardiac centre.
